A diverse and inclusive culture is essential to who we are.
In a diverse workplace, differences exist, and people require support in different ways. Equity asks us to acknowledge that everyone has different needs, experiences, and opportunities.
After spending a lot of time thinking about diversity and inclusion, the impact it has on our hiring decisions, the product we create, and how we treat each other, we here at FitXR are taking action to do better as a company to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace. We created our own Diversity and Inclusion Committee in 2020 to discuss and review the topic. We kick-started by defining our social code Following our initial talks, we learned a few things:
This is a sensitive topic: feelings and opinions are involved.
This is a trending topic: there is a lot of noise and it's hard to pin down the essence.
This is not a new topic, but rather a renewed one.
This is a human topic: it’s personal, delicate, and nuanced
Diversity, inclusion and equity are not dichotomous. They are a complex web requiring open-minded discussion and thoughtful action.
Everyone has biases and every company can put themselves at risk of becoming less diverse and inclusive.
A more diverse and inclusive company > a less diverse and inclusive company
Diversity and inclusion are not just about gender or race, so looking at it through that lens can limit your perspective. There are subtleties to this topic that cannot and should not be ignored.
